Nancy's Corner - Laura Murray, Textile Artist & Designer

Laura Murray shares secrets to create elaborate quilt designs easily. Rubbings created on solid fabric laid over design stamps with the Paintstiks produce light, medium, & dark value elements. Backed with fusible web, rubbings are arranged on a solid fabric base marked with a grid. Complex blocks are created without the challenges of piecing. Arranged rubbings are fused, then appliqued in place.

Rope Sewing Reinvented - Part 2

Continuing the mini-series on using cotton rope to create handcrafted baskets and bags, Nancy and guest, Lindsey Zinno, demonstrate advanced rope-sewing techniques. Nancy's Corner - Beth Helfter, EvaPaige Quilt Designs

Quilt designer Beth Helfter of EvaPaige Quilt Designs created the Teal Mini Swap to raise awareness about ovarian cancer & funds to support research. Quilters register online, and are paired with a partner. Participants each receive a swatch of the official teal mini swap fabric that must be incorporated into either a mug rug or an 18" or smaller mini-quilt that is sent to their assigned partner.

Rainbow Quilts for Scrap Lovers - Part 2

Premiered: October 23, 2017

Many quilters have a variety of fabric scraps that don’t seem to coordinate together. Nancy’s guest, Judy Gauthier, introduces viewers to a system of making scrap quilts that incorporates all sizes, shapes, and prints. Learn the “spacing” technique of separating colorful fabrics to keep them from fighting and how to sort fabrics by intensity for best results. Three unique quilt designs featured.

Stitchin’ for Kids has provided creative play gifts to children undergoing long-term hospitalization. Dolls with detailed handmade wardrobes & accessories provide hours of imaginative play for young girls. Toddlers receive a baby doll with handmade blanket, hat, bib, and more. For boys, fabric race car tracks with toy cars transform a boring hospital bed into an exciting road race adventure.

Nancy's Corner -8th Grade Students, Belleville Middle School

Bob Gentilli and Theresa Schultz’s eighth grade students learned important, nontraditional life lessons participating in the Quilts of Valor project. Students conducted library research and interviewed veterans. Then students visited a local quilt shop weekly where they collaborated to design and prepare one-of-a-kind quilts for selected veterans in their community.
