Official Title:       Associate Information Processing Consultant

Appointment:     Academic Staff 100% fixed term (one year project position)

Location:             Madison, WI

Wisconsin Public Television is looking for a web developer to create both full web sites and maintain existing projects, leveraging WordPress, Drupal, HTML5, PHP, MySQL, JavaScript (jQuery) and CSS3 in the building of mobile responsive websites. This position reports to the Manager of Digital Services.  This is a one year project position with possibility of renewal.



  • Collaborate with the WPT Online team on web projects
  • Architect and develop web functions and features with consideration of accessibility and performance
  • Write efficient and well-documented code
  • Improve internal tools, standards
  • Actively participate in weekly meetings
  • Diagnose and resolve bugs and support requests


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong communication skills
  • Able to consistently meet deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail when creating and reviewing web content
  • Thorough knowledge of WordPress, Drupal, PHP, MySQL, Bootstrap, JavaScript (jQuery), HTML5 and CSS3
  • Understanding of RESTful Web Services technologies such as JSON, SOAP, and HTTP
  • Understanding of responsive web development
  • Understanding of SEO best practices
  • Experience using version control systems



The range for this position is $45,000 - $48,000.  Actual pay is dependent upon qualifications, experience and official title.  UW-Extension offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, life insurance, pension plan, flexible spending accounts, employer paid training and development, generous paid vacation and sick leave.
