Brandy Old Fashioned Cherry Pie
Tell us about your proudest moment — or humble failure — in this week’s baking challenge.
I had more difficulty with the pie crust this week because we didn't have the air conditioning on, so it was hard to work with. I had to keep taking the pie and crust components in and out of the freezer. The filling is amazing! I combined sweet and tart Door County cherries with brandy and a hint of orange to get that old fashioned flavor. I added ground almond to the crust to add depth to the flavor.
Describe how you added a Wisconsin twist to your creation.
I used Door County cherries my family picked this weekend and added brandy and orange to give the filling that iconic Wisconsin drink flavor. The crust has Wisconsin butter.
