Buttercup Maple Pie
Tell us about your proudest moment — or humble failure — in this week’s baking challenge.
The pie turned out softer and more moist than my normal pumpkin pie. Maybe it wasn't baked long enough.
Describe how you added a Wisconsin twist to your creation.
I used my pumpkin maple syrup recipe, but used buttercup squash instead. The recipe is celebrating the Ho-Chunk in the Winnebago area where we live. The Ho-Chunk Nation were advanced in agriculture and farmed mostly corn and squash, and used the syrup from the maple trees. I also used Grandma's lard pie crust recipe.
