The WPT Education team creates and curates free, high-quality, standards-based PK-12 educational content and resources that meet the needs of Wisconsin educators and students including video, interactives, lesson plans, teacher professional development and youth media mentorship.  

Under the supervision of the Director of Education, the Executive Producer of Classroom Media is responsible for coordinating all aspects of pre-production, production, post-production and project management of educational digital media learning projects for distribution through WPT Education and PBS LearningMedia. They will coordinate concept development, curriculum design, and editorial and production activities on assigned projects.

The Executive Producer of Classroom Media will oversee the work of teams composed of education specialists, multi-media producers, designers and developers to ensure that all content WPT Education produces meets learning goals and needs of Wisconsin educators and students.


  1. Lead the station’s coordinated efforts to create and disseminate high-quality, K-12 educational resources, ensuring materials align with Wisconsin academic standards; strategically integrate content, educator and youth participation and professional learning to meet the department’s reach, engagement and impact goals.
  2. Supervise WPT’s K-12 education specialists, providing constructive feedback, coaching, professional development and guidance for high-performing and creative staff.
  3. Collaborate with education outreach and early learning staff to develop and feature a consistent voice and experience for our users across products and content areas
  4. Be a team leader to insure the successful implementation of WPT Education’s strategic goals and strategies, representing WPT Education internally and externally, building and strengthening partnerships.
  5. Provide counsel in the development of educational goals and objectives for projects; advise on appropriate use of media and technology to accomplish educational goals.  Maintain and expand knowledge of educational standards, pedagogy and trends. 
  6. Establish guidelines for developing, producing and disseminating learning objects and companion materials; collaborate with Production, Online, Community Engagement and other WPT units on workflow processes that ensure the successful creation and dissemination of assets for educational use. 
  7. Work with WPT Communications and Design staff to assist in developing and implementing strategies to reach educators including e-newsletters, social media content and print assets.   
  8. Conduct project evaluations, utilize analytics and data to measure outcomes and facilitate continuous improvement.
  9. Participate in fundraising for educational work by assisting in researching and report writing, grant proposals and making in-person presentations to funders and partners.

Essential Job Functions

  • Ability to think creatively, envision new applications of technology, and design solutions for their implementation in educational settings.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time including extended workdays or work weeks when on deadline or managing events.
  • Ability to work some evenings, weekends and occasional overnight travel.

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and four years professional experience in educational media production
  • Extensive knowledge of instructional best practices and trends, curriculum development, and instructional technology applications in educational settings. 
  • Commitment to educational equity, insuring resources are created in ways that support inclusive access and implementation.
  • Experience managing projects, including planning, budget development, project implementation and evaluation.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading with design thinking strategies and learning from data and evaluation results to inform decision-making.
  • Ability to supervise professional staff with tact and diplomacy
  • Knowledge of teacher resources and how teachers access resources; understanding of school and classroom environments and education policy and standards.
  • Excellent research, writing, communication and collaborative skills.
  • A desire to learn, a proactive attitude, and an ability to adapt quickly to change.
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-directed and work independently, as well as work collaboratively and cooperatively in teams.
  • Demonstrated support of diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
  • Ability to travel around Wisconsin to create, steward and collaborate with WPT Education partners, educators and school districts as projects warrant.

Preferred but not Required Qualifications

  • Degree in K-12 education.
  • K-12 teaching or non-classroom professional education experience.
  • Familiarity or experience with public media.
  • Knowledge of Wisconsin education market, leaders, trends and challenges.


We expect to pay in the low $60s annually with actual pay dependent on experience and skills.
