Elizabeth from Athens, WI
Elizabeth participated in Week 6: Botanical, and attempted the Leaf-Shaped Herb Fougasse Challenge. Let's see how they did!
How do you rate your baking performance?
Give your botanical creation a clever name — and tell us about your recipe.
Sweet Cranberry Herb Fougasse. In my recipe, I kneaded in sweetened dried cranberries and a blend of herbs to complement the berries flavor. The herbs included sage, thyme, and rosemary.
Any disasters? Did you take any risks? Proudest moment? Lessons learned the hard way? Tell us about it.
As this was my first time making any kind of "decorational" bread, I was pleasantly surprised at how it turned out. The top wasn't as brown and crisp as I would have liked and I may have put too many cranberries in the bread. Overall it was a great learning experience and since it was eaten by my family so quickly, I might just have to make it again.
How did you add a Wisconsin twist to your flavors or decoration?
I incorporated Wisconsin-grown cranberries.
