Week 7: Desserts
Starts: Monday, July 24, 2017
Ends: Sunday, July 30, 2017
It’s dessert week, and things are about to get very … French! Ooo la la!
This week’s challenges are each unique, but are tied together by their sweetness. No matter what dessert challenge you pick, try your best to add a local spin! From Wisconsin honey to cranberries, we know you’ll find a way to make your creation stand out.
Week 7: Desserts Challenges
You only need to select one to participate.
Signature Challenge — Family-sized Roulade
Try your hand at rolling the perfect roulade, and finding the right balance between filling and cake. Can you create the perfect swirl?
Here’s your chance to attempt a flourless pastry! This challenge is a little more specific: Your creation will need to contain four layers of nutty meringue, sandwiched with praline buttercream and ganache, and the whole thing must be covered in nuts. Go nuts.
Make two different flavors of mini mousse cakes. You can make a dozen of each, or keep your project small-scale. Your cakes must have an element of sponge and mousse, and of course, they must be mini!
Each week, we’ll issue three baking challenges based on the upcoming new episode of The Great British Baking Show — this way you’ll have a chance to test yourself against the show's contestants as you watch. However, you will only have to select one of our three challenges to bake. Then we'd like you to add a "Wisconsin twist" to your recipe or decoration. Be creative!
