Father's Day

Father's Day is Sunday, June 15.  Father's Day was first proposed in 1909 by Sonora Dodd- She got the idea while listening to a Mother's Day sermon.  She was raised by her father and wanted to find a way to honor him and other fathers.  It did not become officially recognized until 1966.

PBS Parents has some suggestions for crafty ways you can honor Dad, and even some ideas for crafts to do WITH Dad!  Reading together is another great way for kids and their dads to spend quality time together.  The PBS Bookfinder offers this great Father's Day reading list of books featuring the special relationship between fathers and children.
