Dig Into Reading!

Each year, the Collaborative Summer Library Program creates a theme for community libraries to use in their summer reading programs.  This year’s theme is “Dig Into Reading.” The theme offers some great ways to encourage your child’s love of reading while sharing outdoor adventures together!  You could read books about gardening, then visit a garden or plant your own.  Maybe trucks and tractors are more in line with your child’s interest- Find a great book about big diggers and then find a construction site where you can safely watch the work from the sidelines.  The Dig Into Reading theme can work with dinosaurs, elves and fairies, pirates (dig for treasure!), caves, rocks and minerals…  Many libraries are hosting special story times, activities, and events.  Check with your local library to see if they’re participating.
