Bacon, Lettuce & Tomato Cheese Soup

1 quart milk minus 1/2 cup
3/4 tsp. garlic powder
3/4 tsp. dried mustard
1 tsp. pepper sauce
1 tsp. salt
2 oz. bacon bits.
2 Tbsp. cornstarch dissolved in 1/2 cup milk
1 lb. grated cheddar
Shredded lettuce and diced seeded tomatoes for garnish


Bring to a simmer the 1 quart milk minus 1/2 cup. Add garlic powder, dried mustard, pepper sauce, salt and bacon bits, and simmer for about 10 minutes. Return to a boil and thicken with the cornstarch dissolved in milk. Remove from heat and add grated cheddar. Garnish servings with chiffonade of lettuce and diced seeded tomatoes.
