DAIS has seven other intervention, prevention, and education programs for victims of domestic violence. The remaining quilts from the Quilt to Give project were given to Enchanted Makeovers, a group that houses and educates women and children.

Nancy's Corner - Janet Raderer & Anna Gray Slagle, STITCH

Volunteers from an outreach program called STITCH teach sewing to women for the Kentucky Refugee Ministries. Supplies are all donated. They teach by demonstrating, as most of the refugees don’t speak English. In the past four years, they have had approximately 80 women go through the program. They have come from Somalia, Sudan, Nepal, Cuba, Kenya, Iraq, and the Congo.

Nebraska-Lincoln. The department offers a masters degree in Textile History,
emphasizing quilt studies. The museum has the world’s largest publicly held quilt
collection, featuring 4500 quilts from 50 different countries. The museum hosts 12–15
quilt exhibits each year, featuring about 100 quilts at any time.

The quilt features approximately 600 small triangular quilts assembled into a beautiful multi-sectional quilt. The “International Honor Quilt” has been gifted to the University of Louisville’s Hite Art Institute in Louisville, Kentucky.
