Nancy's Corner -Venetta Morger, Ovarian Cancer Quilt Project

Quilters around the country raise awareness, education, and funding for the Ovarian Cancer Research program by donating entire quilts and quilt blocks to make quilts for an online auction. The quilts are displayed each year at the International Quilt Festival in Houston, Texas. All who have been touched in some way by ovarian cancer have been invited to contribute a block.

A memory quilt becomes a labor of love when it is customized to fit a granddaughter’s special needs. The child’s first year clothes were repurposed for the pockets. Plus, attached felt toys and Braille dots were added to make it an educational gift for this little girl with ONH (Optic Nerve Hypoplasia), which impairs her sight. This inspirational gift is truly one to share with other quilters.
