Wisconsin Public Television – Assistant Volunteer Manager
Wisconsin Public Television is seeking applications for the position of Volunteer Program Assistant. This part-time staff member assists in coordinating 1,800 volunteers for seven major fundraising events annually, including membership drives, Wisconsin Public Television Auction, and two major expos at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison. The Assistant also supports the daily administration of the volunteer program and other programs within Wisconsin Public Television’s Development Department.
The Volunteer Program Assistant works in the Friends of Wisconsin Public Television offices in Vilas Hall and reports to the Volunteer Manager.
Specific Weekly Duties:
- Data Entry
- Preparing Mailings
- Communicating with volunteers through phone calls, e-mails and postal mail
- Creating print materials for events
- Updating group volunteer lists
Event Specific Duties
- Provide a staff presence during volunteer events
- Address on-site issues
- Support volunteer efforts as needed

- High level of comfort with computers (particularly Microsoft Word and Excel)
- Must be able to walk and stand for significant stretches during event shifts and independently set up and remove equipment at event facilities
Schedule and Availability:
This position requires evening and weekend hours during Wisconsin Public Television events (which are scheduled months in advance). The daily schedule is flexible and can accommodate classes and exams, however, some office hours are needed at least two to three days per week (Monday-Friday).
The successful candidate will be available to start work on or before December 1, 2014.

An interest in Wisconsin Public Television’s mission or a career interest in a non-profit field or event planning. Social Media experience is a plus.
10 hours per week at $10.00/hour for 52 weeks a year. Hours will increase prior to and during volunteer events.
